Undergraduate Portfolio
This piece was my last final project of my entire college career. The woven strips crossing and interlacing with others in the structure of this piece represent to me the grand but fleeting college moments that are memorialized in the mind- the last essay, the last lecture, the last dining hall meal, the last hangover, the last hug. All of these -now-memories are made up of a community of people, all leaving in different directions.
The warp is fishing line to create a unique bounce and body to the individually woven strips. The weft is hand-dyed wool, imitating pastel colors of sea glass. The materials tie together my experience in Missouri learning to weave and the coastal town I am moving to in Maine.
